I did my Bachelor of Counselling with AIPC and I absolutely would not recommend them to anyone. To start, the prices are literally insane - they bumped up the price at the end of last year by $200 for a unit that did not change at all. Their placement units are $2,490, and they don’t help you find placement and only do 6 2 hour webinars. The marking consistency was shocking, and I had multiple units where students were either failed or almost failed with feedback that made no sense. The markers left personal attacks as feedback, and often went completely against things we had been told or marked correctly on by other lecturers. All students are told to wait 3 days to ‘cool off’ after receiving marks- categorically insulting to students to prevent them from reaching out for support after receiving marks that many times were completely unfair. I had the pleasure of learning with this wonderful Institute in Carina. My experience started in 2019 with Rob, Alice, and the team. I found them all to be so encourageable , Trustworthy, and just a great bunch of people. There was always a smile and a cuppa to greet me when I would attend the Prac sessions. or pop in for some quiet time to study. The studies themselves are self-paced and so flexible. Without the Australian Institute of Professional Counselling my husband and I would not have our own business that employs 5 - 8 staff. We completed the Diploma which gave us 5 credits to select Universities in Australia where we completed Undergraduate Degrees, these degrees provided nothing but statistics and history. Without the AIPC diploma we would not have known where to start with Counselling clients. The structure of the course allows you to commence counselling "real" people as soon as you are finished. We hire 90% of our staff from the AIPC as we know the calibre of the training and the excellent content of the Diploma/Degree. Did the Diploma of counseling only to find out that employers want psychology degrees and social work degrees. This diploma is not recognized and out of date in my opinion. Wasted thousands on this ridiculous course only to still not find a job with it. I would gladly hand back the diploma to get a full refund AIPC!!
If you are interested in best practice education in the field of counselling this is the place. The courses are at the cutting edge of research, practical and the support of supervisors and staff is outstanding. I've completed a Bachelor and an MBA, and at AIPC Brisbane I have found a standard second to none and my expectations have been surpassed. Sometimes a place just has the right ethos and people!
The learning experience was enjoyable, however staff can be rude and arrogant. communication is also lacking, very hard to get a hold of lectures. After reviewing my course and comparing it with other courses offered by other institutes, I see there have been gaps in the education provided. I, respectfully, advise future students to have a good look around and compare the course work.
Studying through AIPC has been wonderful as I can fit study in with my family commitments. I have completed all my practicals online as I live two hours away from Perth and have found these to be an amazing learning experience. I certainly recommend AIPC to others interested in counselling.
Completed the Diploma of Counselling with AIPC Perth. I can not recommend their qualification highly enough: - The learning materials and the online learning system are very clear and user friendly. - The regular contact with AIPC Perth and the national team are always informative, pleasant and personal. - The practical assessment are the best I have had, and I have left each of them feeling more confident and empowered by the quality of the trainers delivery and the content shared on each day. - I highly recommend the face to face assessments as this is where you will learn what a real counsellor sounds and behave like, and you will get to build a network of like minded people each on their own journey, and yet sharing the same passion. I'd give more stars if I could!
It's been a great experience studying with AIPC. They are extremely supportive and the delivery of the course was well structured and organized. I was a little bit worried to attend face to face assessments but I am so glad I did. The facilitators Lisa & Trevor are extremely helpful and friendly, making it a great experience. I couldn't attend my last assessment face to face but AIPC were quick to reschedule it for me, making sure it fits around my work schedule. I loved meeting other, like-minded students and making new meaningful connections. I am happy to graduate but I am also a little bit sad because it has been great to be a part of this amazing community. I have only good things to say about my experience of studying with the AIPC. Apart from the fact that the course is really interesting and offers flexible study options, the people who provide student support, who facilitate the practical workshops and the people who correct my workbooks are all just lovely. I enjoy attending the workshops in Bentley as they are a great way to meet like-minded people who put you at ease immediately, but I also love the fact that I have other options to submit my practical assessments online if I need to do that. I can't imagine anyone could ever regret doing this course. I love it!
Completing my Diploma of Counselling at AIPC and pursuing a career in counselling is best decision of my life. The course is incredibly well supported through their web portal and forum, but also email and direct phone calls for queries. The content of the course is incredibly well done and backed with wealth of resource material, industry insights and peer reviewed knowledge. There is an abundance of great information you will want to refer back to as your career develops and takes shape. The thing I struggled with the most - the 'In-person' practicals, turned out to be one of the best parts of the entire experience, and I really recommend students to attend these weekend sessions when they can. I completed my Diploma of Counselling in September through the AIPC and couldn't be happier with their program delivery and support. All unit content is comprehensive, detailed and formatted to progress with your learning. A tutor was always available by phone or email and the student support was excellent. They also offer free post grad programs that have been hugely beneficial in me setting up my own private practice. Im glad I went with AIPC.
I'm at the end of the Masters of Counselling. This has been a fantastic course easily at the level of the big universities. They approach everything like they have something to prove, very different to a uni, some of which have an attitude that you should just feel lucky to be there. Academic rigour easily matches any other higher education institution. Some things are better than a big uni, the price for one and they were already way ahead of others in online learning when the pandemic hit. The criticisms I have are no different to what I have with study experience at university - class sizes for residential school could be smaller and assessment rubrics could sometimes be improved. I have just completed the Diploma of Counselling almost 12 months from the day I started. I loved the self-paced style of study and found the course content exception. I particularly liked the variety of support available, from the extensive readings for each unit, the knowledge base of other student queries and the opportunity to always speak to a staff/support member if required. In particular, I commend Jasmine in the Melbourne office who was always kind, accommodating and professional. I am now beginning the job search and AIPC is still offering support in many ways including a free mentorship program. I highly recommend this course if you think you would like a career in counselling.
My experience with AIPC was outstanding. The material is clearly laid out and relevant, staff are friendly, efficient, and quick to respond, and there is room to interact with and gain support from fellow students. I'm currently taking part in the free (!) program that they offer to help graduates set up in private practice. This is above and beyond what I would expect from even an excellent educational institution, and certainly more than what I have experienced in the past at any educational level, including post-graduate. Couldn't recommend more highly.
Don't be fooled by the flashy website and "testimonials". Do not apply to this institution if you have a disability. They literally have ONE person in charge of academic support (and special considerations) you will be lost in a sea of 200 odd students per unit cohort so there is no individual support. You'll have to wait 3 weeks for assignment feedback and then you will be marked harshly with next to no feedback. How ironic that your mental health will suffer studying there. You'll only have ONE contact hour a week per unit at a time that suits AIPC so those working full time will receive passive agreesive emails saying that watching the webinar (not a lecture) live will really help their results despite having to work.
