We suggested our 20yo son enrol in Christine O'Leary's young adults PEERS course. Our son is on the Autism spectrum, with social challenges common to young people with that diagnosis. The course is not cheap and it took a serious commitment from our son and from us to get the most out of it. But I commend Christine for the quality of the material, her attention to detail, her connection with and care for every participant, and her positive approach. By the end of the course the participants were really encouraging and supporting each other; and this connection was led by Christine and woven into the way the course works. We live interstate and participated through weekly Zoom sessions but we had no technical issues, live discussions and video training clips went smoothly. Our son now has a practical process to follow for all sorts of social situations he (and many of us) has found difficult. E.g. there are at least 6 steps in the process for handling disagreements, and apologising is not until step 5.We warmly recommend Social Skills Australia's PEERS courses and Christine.
