I personally would like to say Stirling institute is awesome: I have had an absolutely amazing time with my studies, met some beautiful people, trainer is great, with my placement we had opportunities to find our own if we chose to but also support throughout with the coordinators of which are very approachable & professional into finding suitable companies/ partnerships which work within individual goals and planning. Everytime I needed support or questions I felt comfortable either by e-mail or a phone call, which was always promptly answered any of my questions or enquiry. I wish Stirling had more courses because I'd definitely continue my studies with Stirling institute for sure.
I would NOT recommend this institute to anyone, from my personal experience. Absolute lack of communication, weeks and months between email acknowledgement, some students have not even had a call back from Placement Co-Ordinators nor Management for that matter. Delivery of course was the worst I have ever experienced. Staff do not go above and beyond to treat you as a priority, ever. Never in my years of study, have I felt so unsupported. They will ask you to source own placement, then when you have tried yourself via 20-30 organisations, they will then try to place you somewhere that is not even close to your preferred 3 placement choices. My placement feedback was literally a 5 minute call to my supervisor. How poor is that. I found TAFE students got precidence over this private institute when enquiring about placement. It's a very poorly ran organisation in my opinion.
Best to get your qualifications from a reputable TAFE or training provider if you want to be job ready. I completed the certificate III in Horticulture 2023. Classes were face to face, and once a week over 12 months, and it was cheap with the government subsidies offered at the time. Material was outdated, classroom was not suitable for holding prac assessments and our class basically ran itself as self directed learning. We, as students located a garden which was 15 minutes drive away from classroom, to utilise for our prac sessions. Initial trainer was fantastic. His replacement in term 2 was not, running most classes via watching YouTube videos which were remotely related to the theory component and assessments. My experience at Stirling Institute of Australia has been disappointing. The school is poorly organized, with emails often sent to the wrong students and teachers. They frequently change the timetable without notice and claim they have the right to do so, which is frustrating. The staff and management lack professionalism and support. I wouldn't recommend this school based on my experience.
I would highly recommend TSA for your training needs. MeganBird Tsa has amazing teaching skills, resilience and has shown me techniques that will make me the best practitioner I can be. If you are wanting to do a diploma in community services or mental health I highly recommend you request her as your trainer. You won't be sorry!!
My experience with TrainSmart has been amazing. Not only do I get a trainer who is a specialist in their field, but give feedback and engage on a weekly basis. I also get webinaires with each topic which are invaluable. I would recommend Train Smart to anyone wanting to study online.
I put off coming for years before I finally worked up the courage to go and see if it would be of any benefit, and I have been coming back every week ever since. Can’t recommend this team enough, they are not only polite and kind but are flexible and make you feel like they are there to help you, not like you are just another client. A real personalised service that has already given me so much!!
I have been working with Lee Pagana for a few months now and the results so far have been amazing. She really takes her time to listen, understand and help you get to the bottom of the issues. After every appointment I finished feeling that little bit lighter. She is very remarkable and what she does, I would highly recommend her. The receptionist Glenny gets back to you in exceptionally time and the most helpful with organising, rescheduling appointments. I also live rural and do Telehealth appointments, they cater to what best suits you.
Lifeskills is the best counselling hub in Perth. Lee is absolutely fantastic at what she does and can get to the root of the problem so quickly that what would normally take 10 sessions with another counsellor she can get there in 2. It is a very active way of counselling that allows for a deeper understanding of yourself. Lee is also wicked funny so makes the experience of counselling enjoyable.
I cannot recommend Lifeskills enough. Just to be able to sit there for an hour every few weeks and talk about anything and everything with such a compassionate person as Hugo has done wonders for my stress and anxiety levels, and really has greatly improved my whole outlook on life. Lifeskills is an amazing service. Whenever I have called, Lee has always made herself available as soon as practical. The staff are always friendly and when I leave after a session I always feel a weight has been lifted. I especially enjoyed the 3 day workshop that was really eye opening and set me on a better, mentally well path. Can you give more than 5 stars...???
The TRIA experience has shaped me - both as a therapist and a human being - in ways that I'm deeply grateful for. The immersive and experiential focus of the course allows for the kind of rich learning and growth that purely academic courses aren't capable of delivering. The training, the experience and the friendships and connections that I left with are priceless to me.
After completing academic studies in the area of trauma, I was looking for an organisation that taught the kinds of trauma-informed therapeutic skills that I had been reading about. As soon as I came across TRIA, I could immediately see that it spoke to what I had been looking for, so I enrolled in the Foundational course. Now that I have finished three years of experiential training with them, I can only say that I learned far far more than I could ever have imagined when I was only reading about it! My time at TRIA was one of evolving learning and growing. I have developed a high level skillset and deepening awareness around being in relationship with not only others, but with myself. I have no doubt that this journey has made me a better person and established me to start my journey as a psychotherapist in the field of relational gestalt. I am so grateful for the relationship that I developed with my peers and with faculty, for all of the opportunities that were presented to me along the way and to have the support and capacity for a new level of bravery; in order to lean into the messiness and come out a brighter and better human.
My goal when I enrolled in the training was to learn more about gestalt therapy and realise my dream to work as a psychotherapist. At the end of my training I can wholeheartedly say I achieved this and so much more. Personally, I have greater self awareness of "who I am" and "how I am" in relationship: in short I feel more empowered. The ripple on effects of this awareness in my life have been countless. Professionally, I am part of a diverse and vibrant community of people who are committed to navigate the complexity of relationships with a wider view to contribute to a better world. The facilitators are skilled psychotherapists and educators and the experiential training they offered provided me with a deeper embodied learning opportunity. I highly recommend the experience.
I graduated from TRIA in 2017 and it was the best studying experience of my life. The course was so much more that a lot of the textbook learning courses that are readily available, TRIA gave me the hands-on skills to become a therapist that other courses had not and truly set me up for the career I now have. It also provided me with the opportunity to create support and friendship networks in a profession that can often be very solitary. I absolutely recommend TRIA to anyone looking to study counselling and also learn more about themselves or for honing existing counselling skills through a relational lens.
I am writing this review because I am thoroughly disgusted with this Institutes methods of dealing with us, the students. Please do your research! When looking at this institutions high ratings, that the students are asked to write a review prior to commencing study. The experience from the get-go was fabulous, with Liam assuring me that the course could be completed at one's own pace, that all the units would be open so that I could study however quickly or slowly I wanted to do so. Basically, all of my questions were answered in appositive manner and anything asked of Liam was never to much trouble.
