Really disappointed in majority of my limited experience as an online student. It's been issue after issue at Billy blue / Torrens and you are paying a premium for recycled content that some teachers aren't even familiar with. Dealing with...Read More
Not the investment in education I expected. I won't speak for the experience of others, but here are my thoughts. If looking at this be mindful. To understand the difference between Fee-help and HECS. This degree cost me ~$20,000 more than I expected and have noted others experiencing this. The additional cost was a loan fee which was not articulated by the recruitment teams nor understood by anyone I knew as it differed from the standard University payment support system. Be mindful as a new student. Read the legal documents thoroughly.A few years ago I brought this up and was met with disregard. My experience has taught me to be mindful. This college is owned by Strategic Education Inc of which is publicly listed and traded while operating through a range of subsidiaries. I for a matter think that there is a conflict of interest between the share holders and the students. We can't serve two masters with opposing interests. A quality education or investor returns which is more important?Would I study here if presented the opportunity to start again? No, no I wouldn't, wrong industry and sector for me. Have some thoroughly enjoyed the experience? Yes and have found and made great careers. While others a promise of placement fell short.I regret this investment, however I had the opportunity to learn of the importance of due diligence. A valuable lesson. I only wish I placed my investment with another provider.Mixed experience with lecturers. Some great and a taught deal. Others taught nothing, it was a complete waste of time hearing the same lesson over and over with no new content. At ~$300 a class I was disappointed and would of yielded more from books in these instances. I don't need to spend that money hearing about someone's favorite color or how another has a Masters degree. Well what did you learn in that Master's degree? My perspective is the college acted with unconscionability often changing the terms of the agreement as each merger progressed. Does this college put the students first or the shareholders?P.S. The response is vacuous and saving face. Absolutely consistent with past experience. The eponym lives on!
